Ready to launch your real estate career? Here’s your complete guide to applying for a Florida Real Estate Sales Associate License through the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation (DBPR).

✅ Step 1: Complete the 63-Hour Pre-Licensing Course

Before you can apply for your license, you must complete a FREC-approved 63-hour pre-licensing course from a state-approved real estate school (like us!).

✔️ You’ll receive a completion certificate after passing the end-of-course exam with at least 70%.

📝 Step 2: Submit Your Application to the DBPR

Once your course is complete, submit your license application to the Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) through the DBPR website.

  • Select “Sales Associate – Initial Application”

  • Pay the application fee (approx. $83.75)

  • Applications are typically processed in 7–21 days

💡 Tip: You can apply before finishing the course to speed up the timeline.

🖐 Step 3: Get Fingerprinted

Florida requires electronic fingerprinting as part of your background check.

✔️ Schedule your fingerprints through a DBPR-approved Livescan vendor

✔️ Use ORI code FL920010Z when submitting to ensure proper routing

✔️ Most students do this at a local UPS store or fingerprinting center

🎯 Step 4: Schedule & Pass the State Exam

Once your application is approved, you’ll receive an email from Pearson VUE with instructions to schedule your state exam.

✔️ The exam is 100 questions (multiple choice)

✔️ You must score 75% or higher to pass

✔️ Bring your course completion certificate and two forms of ID

📍 Exams are offered at Pearson VUE testing centers and online in some cases.

💡 Want to make sure you pass the first time?

🧾 Step 5: Activate Your License

After you pass the state exam, you’re almost ready to go! To legally practice real estate, you must register under a licensed broker.

  • Ask your sponsoring broker to activate your license on DBPR’s website

  • Once active, your license status will show as “Active” on the DBPR lookup tool
