📚 What Real Estate Course Do You Need?

Florida has different required real estate courses depending on where you are in your career.

Whether you’re just getting started or renewing your license, this guide will help you choose the right course based on the Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) requirements.


🟢 63-Hour Pre-Licensing Course

Who it’s for: First-time real estate students

This is the starting point for anyone looking to get their Florida real estate license.

You’ll learn:

  • Real estate law, math, and practices

  • Contracts and property rights

  • How to pass the Florida licensing exam

✅ Required before you can take the state exam

📘 Final exam required (70% to pass)


🔴 45-Hour Post-Licensing Course

Who it’s for: Sales associates renewing their license for the first time

You must complete this course before your first renewal deadline. If not, your license becomes null and void.

You’ll learn:

  • Business planning

  • Working with buyers and sellers

  • Prospecting and lead generation

✅ Required for first renewal

📘 Final exam required (75% to pass)


⚪ 14-Hour Continuing Education (CE)

Who it’s for: Licensed agents renewing after their first cycle

CE is required every 2 years after post-licensing to keep your license active.

Includes:

  • 3 hours of Core Law

  • 3 hours of Ethics

  • 8 hours of elective topics

✅ No final exam required

📅 Complete at your own pace or in one session


🔵 72-Hour Broker Pre-Licensing Course

Who it’s for: Experienced agents becoming brokers

You must have 24 months of active real estate experience in the last 5 years to enroll.

You’ll learn:

  • Broker-level law & business practices

  • Supervising and managing agents

  • How to pass the Florida broker exam

✅ Required to apply for a broker license

📘 Final exam required


🟦 60-Hour Broker Post-Licensing Course

Who it’s for: New brokers renewing for the first time

Just like sales associates, brokers must complete post-licensing before their first renewal—or their license will become null and void.

Covers:

  • Leadership and office management

  • Risk reduction and business strategy

  • Practical broker operations

✅ Required for first broker renewal
