If youโre getting fingerprinted as part of your application process for a Florida real estate license, itโs important to know how long those fingerprints remain on file and what happens if your application is delayed.
๐ If You Have Not Yet Submitted an Application:
Fingerprints are retained by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for 180 days (6 months).
This means you must submit your application within 6 months of being fingerprinted.
If your application is not received by the Florida DBPR within that time, you will need to get fingerprinted again and pay any associated fees.
๐ If You Have Submitted an Application:
Once your application is received and linked to your fingerprint record, the Florida DBPR considers your fingerprint results valid for 2 years from the date the application is approved.
During that 2-year period, you do not need to be fingerprinted again for license activation, retakes, or related follow-ups.
โ Best Practice:
To avoid extra costs or delays:
Get fingerprinted shortly before or right after submitting your application at myfloridalicense.com.
Double-check that your Social Security Number and ORI Code are entered correctly when getting fingerprinted to ensure your results are properly routed to the DBPR.
